• Big souvenir shops are on the 5th floor of “Nomin” department store, on the 1st floor of “Flower” center and felt product shops. Felt and leather slippers, belts, wallets, key rings, place mats, postcards expressing Mongolian image, traditional hats, waistcoats, dels, clothes made by fur, carved chess and horse headed fiddle are the bestseller products.
  • A number of cashmere brand shops and “Altai” cashmere has the highest quality also wide design choices. “Goyo” and “Gobi” cashmere shops are much cheaper comparing with others.

  • Best professional cooks for a long period journey in a tent who graduated professional cooking course and experiences to cook and serve for the tourists. The salary is 30-50 dollars for a day.
  • For bird watching trip, best professional scientists travel together. There are a few number of these kinds of people in Mongolia so the salary is much higher. Especially according to the place where to go or what birds to watch, the salary is 100-150 dollars for a day.   
  • For horse riding trip, horsemen who know about the horses well, look after and feed up them every time even during the night travel together. The salary is 20-30 dollars for a day.
  • For climbing and trekking trip, professional mountaineers travel together. Most of them have climbed to Everest and a variety of experiences how to climb to the mountains such as 5 holy peaks of Altai Mountain and the highest peak of Khentii range. Also they have a skill to organize the camping and the kitchen. They have much heavy responsibilities comparing with other guides do the salary is 150 dollars for a day.  
  • For fishing trip, local guides travel together. They have responsibilities to arrange the local roads, camping sites and luggage. The salary is 15-20 dollars for a day.
  • For hunting trip, local guides travel together. They have responsibilities to arrange the local roads, camping sites and follow the steps. The salary is 15-20 dollars for a day.

Internet:

  • You can get internet connection from internet cafes in the city (0.4 dollars for an hour, 0.1 world for 1-10 minutes) or on the first floor in business rooms of the hotels. In some hotels internet connection is included in room service.
  • 4 hours: 3 dollars
  • 10 hours: 8dollars
  • Every province has internet cafes even some of sums have internet connection near the travel points. Sometimes the internet connection is free charging in some hotels.

Telephone:

  • You can call anywhere from the hotel room using the special instructions how to use the telephone. International call for a minute is 3 dollars; intra city call for a minute is 0.1 dollar. You can make urgent call (a minute 8-9 dollars) from the country where has no connection of telephone.
  • Post office:
  • To send a postcard from Ulaanbaatar city, stamps cost 0.5-2 dollars and postcards have widely choices 0.3-0.5 dollars.
  • To send documents to any country, you need to pay 1.8 dollars for each 20 grams, excess charge for each 20 grams is 0.6 dollars and the documents are delivered in the countries in 14-21 days. If urgent, to:
  • Asian countries: 18 dollars for 100 grams
  • European countries: 20 dollars for 100 grams
  • The USA: 30 dollars for 100 grams.
  • Excess charge for each 100 grams is 5 dollars and be delivered in the countries 3-5 days.

  • You can change your money in the reception of the hotel, all the banks and big markets. In the center of the city banks work for 24 hours. Exchange rate is much cheaper in the markets or in the hotel comparing with others.
  • To send money to Mongolian account from foreign countries account, you need to pay 0.3-0.5 dollars and it is delivered in 3days. If urgent, you can choose Western Union paying 110 dollars for 2000-2500 dollars in only 15 minutes. Excess charge for each 500 dollars is 20 dollars.
  • In Mongolia you can use Visa, Master, American express and JCB cards. In Nomin, Sky, Gobi, Altai cashmere shopping centers, Ulaanbaatar, Bayangol, Khaan Palace, Narantuul and Chinggis hotels, you can pay by Visa, Master cards. But you need to pay Mongol tugrugs in food stores or markets.

  • In Mongolia all the organizations start at 9 a.m and finishes 6 p.m especially private organizations work on Saturday.
